Thank you to our Open Ride Managers for 2009!  Chuck Carlberg, Abby Ferrazzi and Candace Thompson.   This committee is always looking for more managers.  The more managers and topics - the more open rides there will be!  

Open Arena ‘topic’ suggestions would include Games & Speed, pleasure or western riding practice, trail class/obstacles, ground work or driving in harness, etc. Open Arenas for one particular interest at a time allows more efficient use of the arena space, equipment needs and set-up and attracts others who can share this time enjoying the same interests with their horses!

The ‘DFA Committee Member’ is the person who schedules an Open Arena for members wishing to ‘Host’ an Open Arena. Your Open Arena time, date and ‘topic’ will be posted on the Arena Events Calendar and as possible, posted at the arena and on area web sites.

The ‘Host’ is the person who schedules an Open Arena with a DFA Committee Member. The ‘Host’ invites friends, neighbors or other riding club or Arena members to share their Open Arena activities.

The ‘Manager’ is a DFA member who oversees Open Arena activities. This person opens the grounds and arena building, signs in riders, accepts new Memberships, checks Coggins, assists with arena equipment and set-up, generally supervises activities, enforces proper clean-up and secures the building and grounds after the event.

The ‘Participant’ is anyone who participates in Open Arena activities. You must be a DFA Member (you can join at your first Open Arena!) and you must have the original current Negative Coggins report (and a copy for our files) for each/every horse you bring.

There are some basic ‘Rules of Arena Use’ which all DFA Members receive. The Open Arena Program helps increase awareness and interest in the Dirt Floor Arena, encourages and supports Community Use and also helps to ‘cultivate’ additional ‘ Managers’ and even future DFA Committee Members! The more Managers that are available to oversee Open Arena’s – the more Open Arena’s that can be scheduled for you to enjoy!!!
